Costa Rica Outdoors

Day 1 - You arrive in Costa Rica where you will be met at the airport by Costa Rica Outdoors.  We will then take you to the Western Irazu Hotel conveniently located in the San Jose area and offering two restaurants, a bar, pool, casino, gym and spa, and more.  You will have a standard double room and breakfasts are included. 

Day 2 - You will be picked up at your hotel in the morning for a full day of white water rafting on the Rio Pacuare, a Class III/IV river.  Your breakfast, lunch and transport are included. The river trip will take you through tropical jungles not accessible by any other means.  Discovery Channel rates the Pacuare one of the five most beautiful rafting rivers in the world.  Your will be returned to your hotel after the trip.

Day 3 – In the morning you will be picked up by a shuttle bus and taken to Manuel Antonio on the central Pacific coast.  You will be dropped off at the Costa Verde where you will have a studio double room.  An affordable hotel popular with all kinds of travelers, it sits in the hills over Manuel Antonio overlooking the ocean and the national park.  Breakfasts are included and your afternoon is free to relax on the beach or explore town. 

Day 4 - In the morning you’ll be picked up for a canopy tour.  This adventure uses wire cables and mountain climbing harnesses to hoist you high into the rain forest canopy where they have observation platforms mounted 75 feet or more in the branches of the tall trees.  As you soar between the tall trees on cables rigged to pulleys, you will experience an entirely different type of wildlife and ecosystem.  You afternoon is free and the night at Costa Verde. 

Day 5 – Your morning is free.  In the afternoon a shuttle bus will take you back to San Jose where you will be dropped off at the Best Western Irazu Hotel. You will have a standard double room, as on your arrival. 

Day 6 – You will be picked up at your hotel in the morning for the Highlights Tour.  You begin with a typical Costa Rican breakfast while enjoying a magnificent view of the Central Valley.  After a quick tour of a coffee plantation you make your way up to the Poás Volcano where you can take a leisurely walk along a cloud forest trail leading to the main crater of the volcano.  As you descend from the mountains you will stop at La Paz Waterfalls and continuing your descent through the lowland jungles you stop for lunch at Selva Verde Jungle Lodge, in the heart of the rain forest, with time to relax along the banks of the Sarapiquí River.  Then board a comfortable boat to cruise the river, keeping an eye open for wildlife.  Monkeys, crocodiles and exotic birds are typical in the area.  You will be returned to your hotel in the afternoon.
